Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini Yoga is called the yoga of awareness. A spiritual science that is designed to give you an experience of your soul. Kundalini is whole-istic (in my definition) The ability to harness the energy centres/chakra systems of the body and experience yourself beyond time and space. Harnessing the physical, mental and nervous energies of the body. The whole self.

Kundalini energy is created by mixing the Prana (life force) and Apana (elimination force) These two energies are governed by masculine (Pingala) and feminine (Ida). When we mix these two energies together with the power of kundalini yoga, a pressure is created in the body that awakens dormant shakti energy from the base of the spine. This energy rises through the centre line of the body to the crown of the head and flows back down, opening our bodies energy centres.

This practice's main focus is the movement and transformation of energy. Every time you practice, something will shift at a deep cellular level. Unlike other styles of yoga there is no one practice or sequence. We focus on 'kriyas' which means action. A kriya is a specific sequence of ancient yogic techniques and meditations that give you a specific result. For example if you have digestive problems, anxiety, depression, addiction. There are kriyas to cover every problem - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.

Kundalini includes the following techniques:

  • Asana: body postures

  • Mudras: hand positions

  • Pranayama: breathwork

  • Mantras: intentional, repeated sounds

  • Bandhas: constriction of particular area of the body

  • Drishti: directing the gaze of the eyes

  • Shivasana: relaxation at the end of practice

WHO IS KUNDALINI FOR?

Kundalini is for EVERYONE! People just like me and you, coping with the demands of everyday life. The daily challenges and stressors, raising children, holding jobs, studying, managing biz…all of the things. It provides us with the skills to navigate these times.

Kundalini is not a religion. When we apply the ancient technology of Kundalini Yoga to our body and mind, it has the effect of uplifting the soul energy. It is a universal practice.
